Meet the Preschool Staff

Mrs. Joan Bertermann: Our preschool director and four-five-year-old preschool teacher, music teacher for Three's and Pre-K classes.  Mrs. Bertermann is a graduate of St. Mary of the Woods College with a major in Early Childhood Education and a minor in Special Education. Mrs. Bertermann was a nanny for 2 ADHD children, taught 11 years at another Child Care facility and began the Early childhood Ministry programs (Preschool and Christian Childcare) at Faith in 1995.

Mrs. Hillary Gebhardt: I hold a BSED in Early Childhood and Reading Education from Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia.  While living in Georgia, I taught all day kindergarten for one year.  The other four years were spent teaching fourth grade and SIA/REP for third through fifth graders.  Upon moving to Bloomington, I worked for MCCSC as a substitute/long term leave teacher for five years.  For several years, I was a stay-at-home mother to our daughter, Lily, who attended preschool at Faith before entering kindergarten this school year.   I am very excited to be teaching the three-year-old preschool classes.

Mrs. Cara Huss: Mrs. Huss leads the morning Zebra Class (Preschool Enrichment Class). Mrs. Huss has been associated with the pre-school and Child Care Ministries since their inception 13 years ago, first as a parent with children (four of them) in the program, and then on staff since the fall of 2004. She is a 1988 graduate of Indiana University with a B.S. in Biology. In the morning, along with leading the Zebra class Mrs. Huss teaches science and does special math activities with our preschool-aged children.

Miss Carrie Baxter:  Attained her CDA (Child Development Associates) at Ivy Tech College in 2009. She began working at Faith in the spring of 2007, and is the afternoon Zebra teacher. Miss Baxter provides activities that enhance language and literacy, music and movement, socializing, and gross motor development. Miss Baxter also provides summer child care for families.
