Service Project |
The group called “Orphan Grain Train” is a Lutheran organization managed totally by volunteers. Goods are received and then donated to those in need. The organization started over 20 years ago by a group of Lutheran farmers in Nebraska who visited an orphanage in Russia. They saw the poverty and determined to do something about it. Their thought process was something like this, “We could help feed the children in this orphanage if we all added some of our extra grain to the cars of a train as it travels across our state.“ And that’s exactly what they did. Thus, the name “Orphan Grain Train” was born. It’s no longer just for orphans. The goods are for anyone in need. It's no longer just grain. It’s clothing, food, appliances, farm equipment, school supplies. Anything! It’s no longer just a train. Goods are shipped by truck, train, and cargo ship. It’s no longer just for Russia. Items are shipped anywhere in response to poverty and disasters. |

| This mission group accepts donated items of every description and sends them all around the nation and the world where they can help other people. Every item you need for your life, is something someone else somewhere needs, too. We will gather some of these items. | |||||
